Who is allowed to open an account

Start here, because it is the single most common reason a Ugandan sign-up goes nowhere. 22bet's rules say bets may only be placed by individuals who are 25 years of age, or the age of majority in their state if that age of majority is over 25. The consent text on the registration form asks you to confirm you are 25 years of age or older, and the footer of the same page carries a plain 25+ label. There is no softer reading of it.

The rules also name who cannot bet at all: anyone under 25, anyone who directly participates in the events being bet on, anyone representing another bookmaker, and anyone prohibited from entering into a contract with a bookmaker. A player and a referee in the same league are not the same customer, and the operator says so in writing.

The registration footer also carries the warning that betting is addictive and can be psychologically harmful.

The form itself is one screen. Nothing below needs a document upload at this stage: you type the details, you agree to the terms, and the account exists.

Names are the part to slow down on. The consent text makes you confirm that the details you typed, names included, are correct and current. Verification later compares those details against your ID, and the rules require the data to completely coincide. A middle name left off, or Ssebunya spelled the way your friends type it rather than the way your national ID prints it, becomes a problem at exactly the moment you want money out.

1. Open the registration page and pick your sign-up route. 22bet's FAQ names three routes: an email address, a phone number, or a social media account.
2. If you register by phone, the country code field is already set to 256, so enter the rest of your number after it.
3. Set the account currency. UGX, the Ugandan shilling, sits in the currency selector, and choosing it keeps deposits, bonuses and balances in shillings rather than a foreign unit you have to convert in your head.
4. Choose Uganda in the nationality selector.
5. Pick your document type. The selector offers a Passport (Republic of Uganda), National identity card, National ID card, Foreign ID card, Foreign national's passport, Driver's license and Refugee identity document.
6. Enter your first name and surname exactly as they appear on that document.
7. Choose your bonus. The form offers up to 490000 UGX for sports betting or up to 1680000 UGX for casino games, and you take one path or the other.
8. Tick the box saying you are 25 or over, accept the terms, and submit. Save your login details somewhere you will still have them in six months.

This choice sits inside the registration flow, which is unusual and easy to click past. Sports players who tap the casino package because the number is bigger end up with a package aimed at slots.

One caveat on the casino side: the bonuses page states 60 free spins with the package, while the selector panel on the registration page has shown a different free spins figure. Read whatever the site displays at the moment you deposit.

Verification: the documents filed after sign-up

Registration and verification are two different events at 22bet. You can create the account with typed details, but the security team can ask for documents, and the KYC rules are specific about what counts.

Documents go to the "Documents" tab in your account, not to a chat window and not by post. The core set is a photo of an identity document, a photo or screenshot of the payment system you use, and a photo or screenshot of a document confirming your current address of residence that is not older than three months. In Kampala a recent utility bill or bank statement in your own name does that job; a bill in a landlord's name does not.

Your ID has to show your name, photograph, date of birth and citizenship, those details must completely coincide with your profile, and the document must be valid. The rules say a passport, ID or driver's license is normally suitable, and that all players should be over the legal age of 25+.

On top of that, 22bet may ask for selfies with an identity document, proof of wealth and proof of funds. Those requests usually arrive around larger sums, and the threshold that triggers them is not published for Uganda, so there is no number to plan around.

1. Log in and open the "Documents" tab in your account.
2. Upload a photo of your identity document showing name, photograph, date of birth and citizenship.
3. Add a photo or screenshot of the payment system you deposit with.
4. Add proof of your current address of residence, dated within the last three months.
5. Wait for the request, if any, for a selfie with your ID, proof of wealth or proof of funds.

The registration strip advertises 200+ payment systems, but that is a global figure: which mobile money and card rails a Ugandan account gets is decided in the cashier, and no Uganda list, minimum deposit or minimum withdrawal is published on the pages we checked.

As a sign-up, this is one of the tidier ones in the Ugandan market. The form knows it is talking to a Ugandan: 256 is preset, UGX is in the list, and the document selector covers what people here actually hold, refugee IDs included. Nothing is asked of you at registration that you cannot answer from memory.

What is missing is the fine print around the bonus you are asked to choose on that same form. A 490000 UGX cap on sports and a 1680000 UGX casino package are big numbers with no published rollover behind them, and picking one at sign-up without those terms in front of you is a leap. Open the bonus rules in a second tab, read the offer, then submit. And treat verification as a job for the week you register, not the week you want to withdraw, because the address document has a three month clock on it.
